FAQ: Should I Settle My Case With The Insurance Company?

Hi, I’m Chris Hyland with Hyland-Padilla Attorneys. A question that we often get is: “Whether I should settle my case with the insurance company?” Honestly, it depends on the specifics of your car crash and your injuries. If it’s a very minor collision, let’s say a fender bender in a parking lot and no one is hurt and there’s very minimal damage, then you may be able to settle your property damage with the insurance company, and they may even offer to settle with you for a small amount on your injury if you do have any pain at all.

If there are more complicated issues involved like who’s at fault or there are serious injuries, then the insurance company most likely if they’re offering you anything, is probably not offering you enough. You’ll need time for your injuries to heal, you’ll need time to figure out what medical treatment you need and so early on it’s not a good idea to settle your case if there’s a significant injury or accident of any kind. If you have any other questions, please give us a call today.

If you need assistance with your worker’s compensation claim, or the insurance company is denying a claim you feel should be covered, give Hyland + Padilla a call today to discuss your situation with one of our Raleigh + Durham worker’s compensation attorneys.
